Coming to the end now folks, Heavy Support and Lord of War in this update.

Land Raiders
5 point reduction for all versions, inline with all the other codex and they lose Psychic pilot. So no more casting Sanctuary to get a 6++ save and no extra dice for the dice pool.

Big news of the codex though, these can now be taken as Dedicated transport!

I’m gonna run a few lists trying the new Deepstrike method, if that doesn’t work out too well Ill fall back on the trusty Land Raiders.

Dread Knight
This is it, the one that the Internet has been a buzz about. Base costs are the same as the previous codex but the cost of all of the options have come down drastically.

Personal teleported is down from 70pts to 40pts, yes for a measly 40pts your Dread Knight gains an outrageous 12″ move and a once per game 30″ shunt. Incredible value! Use this to get up in their face, especially with the Heavy Incinerator.

Speaking of which, the Incinerator is down 5pts the other 2 ranged weapons are down 10pts as well. Heavy Psycannon now has 2 modes of fire, a template one like before and a focused one that is Salvo 3/6.

Heavy psilencer got the new Force rule so I expect to see that more now.

The close combat weapons got a huge reduction in price as well but they got rules changes. The Great Sword is now 15pts cheaper, but it loses it’s ability to re-roll hits and wounds. The Great hammer saw a 5pt Reduction.

In my opinion there is no reason not to have 2 of these in each army, they are ridiculous now!

Purgation Squads
These went up 10pts, they lost their cool Astral Aiming ability but don’t worry, they got Night Vision…. Useless. The heavy weapons they have access to are only 24″ and with Psycannon now Salvo DS them they won’t be able to shoot and if you end up going first nothing will be in range anyway so Night fighting on these is a bit of a joke.

Other than this they didn’t change, I didn’t use them and I certainly don’t see myself using them anytime soon.

Lord of War: Lord Kaldor Draigo
Obviously he has moved from the HQ slot to The Lord of War slot and his point cost went down 30pts. They lowered his WS and BS 1 but they changed his Titansword to Str +3 Ap2 Force and Master-crafted. That makes him a monster. He has Eternal Warrior and Fearless.

His warlord trait is useless unless you’re against daemons but the fact that he reliably has Gates of Infinity so you can have shenanigans right there.

He might be fun to take occasionally but he’s still pricey but might be worth taking if you’re using tricked out Grand Masters already as they will be close in points.

That’s it for the Heavy and Lord of War slots, one final post left for the relics, rules and psychic powers.
